ACES is becoming more predominant in computer graphics and 3D. If you work with Redshift and Cinema 4D, there are a couple of ways you can choose to work with ACES for input and output. This tutorial from LFO Design shows some ways and compares them. The tutorial is a free excerpt from LFO Design that comes from their Redshift 3D Course.

“In our Redshift 3D course you can find 3 more chapters about New redshift color management and ACES workflow.” The course covers more technical bits like rendering AOV passes with ACES color management and using transform view options correctly, including the ACES SDR-video view option.

Basic exemple to get the redshift material, add a fresnel shader and constant node, and link all nodes. (Constant = Fresnel = Material = Output) import c4d from RedshiftWrapper. Redshift import Redshift def main : rs = Redshift if rs is False: return #Assign Material rs. Redshift is available in way more than just Cinema4D. Currently, Redshift is available for Cinema4D, Maya, 3DSMax, Houdini, Katana, and more in the works. Just like Solid Angle, Redshift doesn’t charge you to use additional plugins either. Hop between any of your 3D applications without spending more on additional licenses.

  • What does Node-Locked mean?

Node-locked licenses are tied to a specific machine but are rehostable, that is they can be transferred from 1 machine to another using the Redshift licensing tool. Transferring a license requires a working internet connection on both the source and target of the transfer at the time of the license transfer. Node-locked licenses may be purchased directly from the Redshift website for immediate use. We accept most major credit cards.

  • What is a floating license?

Floating licenses are dynamically allocated on demand from a pool of licenses managed by a license server running on your network to individual machines running Redshift. The number of floating licenses you have defines the number machines that can use Redshift concurrently. Floating licenses are available by contacting sales. There is a 5 license minimum for floating licenses. Customers with existing Redshift floating licenses can add additional floating licenses with no minimum purchase.

  • How do I get hold of an education license?

Educational licenses are only available to institutions for training and instruction purposes. The use of educational licenses for any other purpose including any form of commercial work is strictly forbidden. At the moment we do not sell individual licenses to students. Please contact sales for additional information including pricing and eligibility requirements.
