What bugs me is the multiple causes of Noise blasts – as listed below. The last Post: ‘12.7 and the odd noise blast again’
It’s a pity that most DUC-Posters don’t add what version of Pro Tools 12 they are using!
Update Mac OS 10.12 Sierra is now supported for Pro Tools 12.6, 12.6 HD, and Eucon 3.5. However, not all other software and plugins support mac OS Sierra yet. Even though Avid has now announced support for macOS Sierra for Pro Tools, we strongly recommend you check to make sure all your software and plugins are supported before upgrading. The simplest way would be to have a house version (12.7), and sessions will work going from 12.5 to 12.7. If the engineer brings their iLok for plug-ins, you would be fine with having two versions of pro tools on two iLoks. I have freelanced to 2 decades, and have always had my plug-ins on a separate iLok.

Noise burst when you stop/start quickly or loop with Delay Comp enabled in PT 12.0-12.4
WORKAROUND = Disable Delay Compensation
Noise burst when starting playback from Mute automation breakpoints in PT 12.5
- when you deactivate all automations, the Noise Blast is gone
“looks like the ideascale is for MAC OS ... does not say anything about PC ..”

• Fixed a noise burst that was reproduced and solved through steps provided by users from the Avid Pro Audio Community that could occur when playing back automation on non-HDX playback engines.

Noise blasts whilst opening a session this morning session hadn't even finished opening. Once opened, I can see the noise is blasting from a reverb return (Revibe II 5.1) delay comp is off. I don't think my problem has anything to do with pressing play or stop as it's happening randomly in play or stop here.

Just got another one out of the clear blue sky. Been working on this session for the past week without a blast, and just now in the middle of the day it happened. Full blast on an Altiverb 5.0 Aux (that didn't have anything sent to it at that moment). Went on for several seconds, then stopped.
VBC on my mixbus seems to be a BIG culprit
So..had a small session yesterday...everything going fine until I started some dense automation on a track. PT erupted with a huge blast that scared the living hell out of me (and the clients).
